Look for lg hwy signs for “Giant Desert Figures” monument which is on E side, across from entrance rd to Blythe Intaglios (on W side of hwy), 33.79985 -114.52771. Rough graded rd goes ~1/2 mi to pkg areas, rig towing not recommended; however, there is a loop pullout area at entrance on R coming in, to unhook/BD (but might not make turnaround towing). From I-10, take Lovekin x239, go N on Lovekin (changes to Midland Rd) 9.7 mi. Go R into entrance to check in (LTVA is on both sides of hwy). D, TR at kiosk, go 1/4 mi. No S/A discount. Paved access 5 mi then gravel. 14 mi W of Blythe, I-10 x222/Wiley Wells Rd, go S 8.9 mi. ~1/2-way is a new prison. Past there, rd can be washboarded, though graded regularly. Camping in designated sites only, 1 camping unit per site. D on main rd between CGs. 1) Wiley Wells CG, W side of rd. Water you pump doesn’t always taste good.
2) Coon Hollow CG, 3 mi S of Wiley Wells CG. Gravel, rough inside. Rockhounds hunt for geodes, jasper, agate. Bob Forkner Apr 90. Last updated Mar 21.
