No prohibitive signs, but suggest pkg no more than 1 nite & do not appear to be camping, as the BLM website says “Overnight camping is allowed only within designated campgrounds and designated car-camping areas and is limited to 14 days within any 30 day period, for a total of no more than 28 days within any one year period. Camping or overnight parking is prohibited within 200 yards of any natural or artificial water source.” ~42 mi E of town on SR-58, TR (S) on Soda Lake Rd, go ~10 mi, W side of rd. N35 14.3682 W119 54.4764. Well marked. Can also be reached from the S on Soda Lake Rd, but is ~15 mi of unpaved washboard & ~25 mi of unmaintained asphalt. No Verizon. Great solar. View of dry lake bed. There is a small pkg area on E side of the rd, so you can walk along the boardwalk near the lake. Cynthia Johnson #92149 stayed May 15.

Free. 14 day limit. ~42 mi E of town on SR-58, TR (S) on Soda Lake Rd, go ~25 mi, TR, go 1/2 mi to CG. 35.0905 -119.7348. Or, ~18.5 mi W of SR-166 on Soda Lake Rd, TL to CG. Rds in Carrizo Plain NM are mostly dirt. Soda Lake Rd is well-graded & maintained. Some sites OK for RVs. Wonderful shade trees & bird life. Can view San Andreas Fault at Wallace Creek: .
