Site 7, near MM 14, 38.35008 -106.7806, across hwy from creek, OK for 2 lg or 3-4 sm RVs. Site 6, near MM 15, OK for 2-3 lg RVs. Sparse traffic after dark. Beautiful drive. All are W of Gunnison on US-50. No trees on any. 7500′ elev. Verizon 3G. Other CGs are off the Reservoir w/ more difficult access. Also see CO, CIMARRON. 1) Stevens Creek CG. 12 mi W of town, US-50 ~MM 146, 1.8 mi W of jct w/ SR-149. 53 sites, many along shore. Tables, fire pits. W, pit toilets, trash service. Turnaround if in use could be difficult (easily seen from CG turnoff on Red Creek Rd). Table, grill. Non-potable W, vault toilet, trash bin. Along nice stream. Also group area. TO PONCHA SPRINGS: US-50 up to 60 mi E of Gunnison. Numerous pullouts, both sides of hwy. 1) Daley Gulch State Trust Land. 1 mi NE of Sargents, NW side of hwy, hwy maint bldgs have a No Trespassing sign but just E of it the Trust Land has an open wire gate & sign “camping in designated area only”. TO CIMARRON: US-50, from SR-149 W to Cimarron. 8 to 10 pullouts. No facilities. Free. No signs restrict O/N pkg. 1 is ~14.5 mi W of town, 1/2 mi W of Elk Creek CG. US-50 here goes thru Curecanti NRA (NPS) which allows camping only in designated areas – this might be state hwy dept property, but if it is NPS you could be told to move – park at your own risk.
