From E end Queen Isabella Causeway on South Padre Island, TR (S) on Park Rd 100/Padre Blvd (Isla Blanca office is on R just past KOA entrance), go 5.6 mi (1.4 mi N of Andy Bowie Park) to Beach Access #5 (entrance to Edwin K Atwood Park, just a name for the 20 mi of beach to the N, driveable except at high tide). 4WD highly recommended, towing no more than a lighter weight 5th wheel. Motorhomes may get stuck; don’t even think of towing a car which will jackknife the front wheels in the mushy sand. Get a tide chart (freetidetables.com) & go at low tide when there is flat hard packed sand. D ($4) at Isla Blanca County Park.
