Open all yr. 3.9 mi N of bridge in town on US-163, TL (W) on SR-261, go 0.8 mi, TL on SR-316 (ignore warning signs re: severe switchbacks/road conditions; those are after this turn), go 3.5 mi to SP. N37 10.475 W109 55.572. Easy paved access up to view pkg area. Sm rocky/dirt area to R by toilets. Dirt/rock rd to L goes ~1.2 mi out to point, dispersed sites all along on both sides of “gooseneck”. Rd much rougher after ~0.7 mi. Any size RV. ATT OK, no T-Mobile, Verizon OK w/ mimo antenna or booster. 4600′ elev. W, free (ask for key inside sta), at Exxon sta in town, S end of pkg lot near st. Pullouts along US-163 (incl thru Monument Valley): 1) MMs 2.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6, 7, 11 & 16. Also MM 406 in AZ (E side). WARNING: Map source shows the 1st 20 mi of US-163 in UT, up to the San Juan Riv at Mexican Hat, as going thru Navajo land (not BLM), as well as far S into AZ. Valley of the Gods scenic drive (BLM), CR-242. Pkg & BD for lg rigs at both ends (sm vehicle recommended for drive, tho some lg rigs do). BD spots for sm RVs along the rd. No facilities. Free. 16.8-mi gravel rd starts & ends at: ~12.5 mi W of jct US-163 & US-191 (4.1 mi E of jct US-163 & SR-261), on US-163, MM 29, at N37.23552 W109.81363, and, ~6.4 mi W of US-163 on SR-261, at N37.26426 W109.93251. Pkg area OK for lg rig by info board at SR-261 end (ignore restricted rd condition signs, OK up to here) but sm rig only further on rd due to steep dips. No lg rig pkg area right at US-163 end (pkg area by info board is 1/2 mi up dirt rd w/ steep hill & 2 spots to L where rd goes thru a stream, lg rigs make it if red clay rd not wet), but can use pullout US-163 MM 30.5 (see other listing).
