MM 3.2, TR on dirt rd (Lake Como Rd, may be unsigned) w/ cattle guard (rough dropoff, hi-clearance vehicle advised) & BLM sign, N37.52189 W105.60197. Circular sand/dirt pullout immed off hwy (several lg rigs), or go 0.6 mi (dusty washboard) to lg clearing on L, 37.52721 -105.59345. Fire ring. Clearing is bumpy, sloped. ~3 lg rigs. 1/2 mi further on L, another spot, ~2 lg rigs. Other spots further in, 1 at N37.53748 W105.59148. Nice view. Elev 7686′. Good solar, Verizon, ATT 4G. Zapata Falls CG (BLM). 23 sites, tables, fire grates. Vault toilets. $11, S/A Pass 1/2. 14-day limit w/in 30. No reservations. Open all yr unless closed by snow. 14 mi E of town on US-160 (5.6 mi W of Blanca), go 10.5 mi N on SR-150 (good 65 mph hwy) to BLM Rd 5415 (sign for Zapata Falls). TR (E) on Rd 5415 (gravel), go ~3.5 mi (rocky, washboarded) to end of rd & CG on R. N37.62071 W105.56074. Rd climbs 1300′ to CG & is rough in places, but doable w/ most rigs. CG has 2 loops, 1 for tents & 1 for RVs (some 50′ aprons). Interior rds good gravel. Sites are developed, mostly level. CG is on W face of slope w/ spectacular views from most sites of San Luis valley, sunsets, night skies. 9000′ elev. Can be windy. Good Verizon. No ATT. Only online payments & reservations accepted, recreation.gov. 14 mi E of town on US-160 (5.6 mi W of Blanca), go N on SR-150 (good 65 mph hwy) to end of rd. Good signs on US-160. Or, go N from US-160 in Alamosa, 13 mi on SR-17, thru Mosca. Go E on CR-6N to SR-150, TL (N), go to end of rd. N37 44 43.27 W105 30 16.67. ~35 sites for RVs to 35′, only 4-8 for RVs to 40′. Some sites parallel to rd, not much room for slides. CG full during wk in Jul, ask about overflow area if full or too lg. Some sites closed off-season. All rds paved. Elev 8282′. Good Verizon & ATT. Mosca CG, San Luis Lakes SWA (formerly SP). 51 sites (most w/ free E), sheltered tables, grills. No W. Pit toilets. D, no rinse W. Free but SWA pass required (see CO NOTE 5, SWAs – avail at Walmart’s sporting goods desk in town, good Apr-Mar), camp host checks. 14-day limit w/in 45 per sign at CG entrance. Open all yr. Go ~13 mi N of US-160 in Alamosa East, on SR-17, just past Mosca, TR on Six Mile Ln, go ~8 mi, TL at Park entrance. Or, 10 mi W of Fort Garland on US-160, go 13.5 mi N on SR-150, TL on Six Mile Ln, go ~8 mi, TR at Park entrance. Low clearance 13′ 6″ at Park entrance, if taller enter to L of entrance sta on exit lane. 16399 Lane 6 N, Mosca, CO 81146. CG loops paved, park rd from Six Mile Ln is gravel. No trees. Views of high desert flora, dunes & Sangre de Cristo mtns. Mostly quiet & peaceful. Occasional low fighter plane flyovers from Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. No lake swimming. Be prepared for sandstorms & bugs. Verizon zero to fair. ATT marginal, may need booster. W jugs can be filled at Great Sand Dunes NP, 15 min E.
