Amboy Crater Natl Natural Landmark (BLM), pkg areas. Modern pit toilets. Tables/shelters. Go 1 mi W of town on Old US-66 toward Ludlow/Barstow (past the rd that goes S to 29 Palms, but there is also a lg open pkg area at this jct), TL (S) at entry sign, go 0.5 mi on paved rd. No pkg allowed along rd in to the lot. 1st pkg area is unmarked but room for several rigs or as a turnaround. At the end of paved rd is a turnaround and is marked off in the ctr w/ 5 level wide RV pkg spots. Interpretive signs (most vandalized), rough hike out to crater. Peaceful area, great valley view. Frequent trains in valley below but sound is minimal. Military bombing range to S has frequent noise, mostly daytime. Verizon weak/slow.
