NF Dispersed Camping Rules. The Williams District of Kaibab NF restricts motor vehicles (anything with wheels) to park within 30′ of any “open” rd per their MVUM, unless signed otherwise. Their document admits parallel pkg may be required to do this. Despite this outrageous rule ruining the enjoyment of our use of the public lands, please be aware that some Directory listings below may describe locations that are in the Williams District & more than 30′ away from a legal rd. 3) 15 mi S of I-40 x146 on SR-89 (6 mi N of Paulden AZ), go 2 mi E at lg sign ‘Drake Cement’ on good solid asphalt rd to plant. Wide pullouts both sides. Traffic to & from plant. Song & Steve Judson #12180 Aug 12.

If going EB, cross under interstate to get to N side; the overpass is signed 14′ above E side lane; W side is visibly lower (on return you may need to stay in E side lane). Otherwise easy access, near interstate but fairly quiet. Hard packed gravel/dirt. Open level area, scattered short juniper trees (park adjacent for partial shade), high desert. Space for 10 to 20 RVs any size. Near a piece of old Rt 66. Good solar/satellite. Superb view. 6200′ elev. Good Verizon. Johnson Crater, Johnson Canyon & Railway Tunnel a few mi out on FR-6. PHOTO.
