I-15 x186, go W on Old Hwy-58 ~3 mi, staying R at a Y. L side. 690 Hwy 58. Lg sandy/gravel, hard-packed RV lot on R side of restaurant when facing it, separate from car pkg. Stoddard Valley OHV Area (BLM). Plenty of level space on rocky dirt. I-15 x169 (Hodge Rd), 14 mi SW of Barstow. Go 0.5 mi E. N34 44.857 W117 09.718. Easy turnaround. Sawtooth Canyon CG (BLM), aka New Jack City. 13 BD sites, many with patio ramadas, cement tables, fire pits, grills. Vault toilets. Free. 14 day limit. I-40 x183 in town, go 16 mi S on SR-247, TR on unmarked poorly-graded gravel rd  (water valves on L after turning off), go 1.1 mi (some potholes on edges of rd). Take it very slow. TL into CG at 34.67335 -116.98287 (only 1 entrance). Many side rds inside sprawling CG. Any size rig. No pullthrus. Camp in designated numbered sites only, some are close together. Hiking trails, bouldering, rock climbing. Dinosaur-themed kids playground. Poor to no cell reception, depending on site chosen. OHVs not allowed. Owl Canyon CG (BLM). 31 BD sites, shaded cement tables, firepits, grills. Limited W. 5 restrooms. $6, S/A Pass 1/2. I-15 x186, go 3.5 mi W on Old Hwy 58, go 6 mi N on Irwin Rd, TL on Fossil Bed Rd (rough dirt), go 2.9 mi, TR on Rainbow Basin Rd, go 0.25 mi to CG. Last 2 rds unpaved, badly washboarded. Also can be reached from x189 via good paved Fort Irwin Rd (not 4WD only as some sources say). Any size rig, no pullthrus. Playground, hiking trails. Next to CG is Rainbow Basin Natural Area (no camping outside CG), a 1-way drive thru multicolored rock formations. Each CG site also has great unique views. D & W at FlyingJ, I-15 x178.
