From jct US-20 & SR-75/Sun Valley Rd, go 2 mi W on US-20, just W of Big Wood Riv bridge, ~MM 176, TR (N). Signs from E & W marking “Sportsman Access” and/or “Stanton Crossing” (WB sign is incorrectly on E side of bridge). 43.33014 -114.32082. ~400×900′ area, shade or sun. Lg rig OK. Much better than RA, no bright lights at night. Heavy wkend use by visitors to adjacent ATV area. Verizon & ATT OK. Elev 4822′. From Bellevue, S on SR-75 to US-20, TR (W), go ~5.5 mi to ~MM 172, sign “Magic Res-Hot Springs Landing”, TL (S), go ~0.5 mi on dusty washboarded gravel rd. N43 19.691 W114 23.907. No trees. Magic Reservoir West. BD. Free. No restrictive signs. Verizon OK. From Bellevue, go S on SR-75. 10.2 mi past US-20 to MM 92, cross Big Wood Riv bridge, TR (W) on W Magic Rd, go ~7.6 mi on paved rd, bear R where gravel rd continues straight, go 0.2 mi. 1) Myrtle Point. Bear R where gravel rd signed to Lava Point goes straight, continue ~0.9 mi on paved rd to sign “Myrtle Point”, TR on gravel rd past fire sta #2 (Runway Windsock directly across), (If you miss turn go ~0.3 mi to next R turn) go 1.0 mi on gravel rd, TL (E) on unsigned rd, go ~0.5 mi to portajohn & steep boat ramp to shore line. BD, if lake level not high. No facilities. No trees. Flat, easy lake access. Also many smaller rds, some rough & rutted, branch off & lead to BD sites – check 1st w/ sm vehicle.
2) Lava Creek (BLM). Back ~0.9 mi to gravel rd signed to Lava Point, TR, go 2.0 mi to sign “Lava Creek”, TR on narrow gravel rd. Above-shore BD pkg, nice view. Tables, grills, pit toilet, some trees. Easy access. Many smaller rds, most rough & narrow, branch off & lead to BD sites. Check 1st w/ sm vehicle.
3) Lava Cove (BLM). 0.5 mi past Lava Creek, on R. Vault toilet. 1 lg rig space.
4) Lava Point Access (ID Fish & Game). 0.5 mi past Lava Cove, on R. BD. Grills. Vault toilets. Primitive boat launch. Grassy/dirt area above shore, views. Many dirt spurs off main rd in, to other sites, check 1st w/ sm vehicle. N43 17.393 W114 23.309. Elev 4800′.
5) Info Kiosk pkg lot. “Black Magic Canyon” info kiosk, ~0.1 mi down W Magic Rd from SR-75, R side, w/ sm gravel pkg spur, no signs, paved trail, tables.
