Mushroom Gulch (NF). Multiple BD sites. No facilities. Free. 14 day limit. 2.5 mi S of town on US-24, TL (E) on US-24/285, go 6.2 mi, TR (S) on gravel CR-307 (38.8412 -106.0107), go ~2 mi, TR (S) on gravel CR-308 (38.84922 -105.98222). Sites on R for several mi, some OK for lg rigs & some multiple lg rigs. Mostly level. Best to scout ahead. Also 3-4 sites continuing on CR-307, which loops back to US-24/285. Lots of OHV/ATV trails. Trout Creek Pass (Arkansas Riv Rec Area, NF & BLM). BD. Free. No posted stay limit. 2.5 mi SE of town on US-24, TL & go ~13 mi NE on US-24/285, between MM 225 & 226, at top of Trout Creek Pass, 1 mi SW of where US-24 splits to E, go W (38.9101 -105.9758) on unpaved CR-311/Seven Mile Creek Rd. Camp in pkg area w/ info signs or continue along CR-311 to numerous sites along rd w/ fire rings. Do not drive off rd. Camp only in existing sites. Arkansas Headwaters Rec Area (CO Parks & Wildlife), dispersed sites. Free. 9 mi N of town on US-24, TR (E) on CR-371, cross RR tracks then bridge over Arkansas Riv, TR, dirt rd follows riv for several mi.  Several official sites marked for dispersed camping along riv, but also people park in pullouts. 1 site at N38.95472 W106.19371 (marked Station #5).
