Ft Defiance, former IL SP now admin by City of Cairo. BD, self-contained RVs only. No facilities. Free. No signs restrict pkg or time limit, City Clerk office says welcome. S of town, E side of jct US-51 & US-60/62 (between the 2 riv bridges), paved rd goes down hill from S end of pkg lot to R of info boards, to old Ft Defiance area. Rd goes back to lg loop to get back out, lg rigs OK. Several pkg areas. Sometimes floods, can call city hall 618-734-0177 to check. Good ATT cell. 1) Follow entry rd to where it becomes 1-way, loop around at end, grassy pkg area on L, across from sidewalks to 2-story lookout (view of peninsula at confluence of Ohio & Miss Rivs). 36.98423 -89.14119. 2) Back to main entry rd heading out (or L when coming into park), TR on unmarked rd, go 300′, TR into lg paved mostly-level lot. OK for several lg rigs. Security light at S end of lot. Great view of Ohio Riv & barges. PHOTO.
3) For a simple O/N only, just park in paved lot w/ info board along main hwy. No restrictive signs. Won’t flood. Hwy noise. PHOTO.
