Edelweiss Restaurant & Bar, lg level gravel pkg lot, tables. Signs “no parking” along fence, but O/N pkg is allowed w/ permission. Fee of $5 “may be charged.” 29 mi N of town on SR-120, E side, jct CR-1AB, at Clark, at entrance to Clarks Fork Riv Access. Also very sm RV park on S side of restaurant, over fee criteria. Spirit Mountain Rd dispersed camping (BLM), gravel lots & pullouts further along rd. Free. 14 day limit. 3 mi W of town on US-20, 1/2 mi W of FG, TL (S) next to stables. 2 lg lots at base of mtn, good for many rigs. Rd gets rougher the higher you go, switchbacks, not recommended for lg rigs. Cave at top of rd requires permit & key from BLM office in town. Paul Codyer #151338 stayed Aug 21.

2) Also, 2.9 mi S of the cattle guard is a good dirt rd (very slippery when wet) that goes straight (paved rd turns to R). Go 3.2 mi down dirt rd to where it crosses a creek at 44.42688 -108.82642. Dead Indian CG (NF). 10 sites, tables, fire pits. W, pit toilets. $10, S/A Pass 1/2. No reservations. ~16 mi N from town on SR-120, go NW on SR-296 over Dead Indian Pass. CG is at the bottom of the Pass, at the creek, in 2 loops w/ separate entrances. Dead Indian Pass on paved 2-lane SR-296/Chief Joseph Scenic Hwy has 11 mi of 7% grade on the E side & 8 mi on the W. There is a 1-mi stretch of 9% grade. There are many slow switchbacks especially on the W side. Lg rigs use discretion & have plenty of horsepower, gearing-down skills & a good engine cooling system. Island Lake CG (NF). 21 BD sites. Tables, fire rings. W, toilets. $15, S/A Pass 1/2. ~16 mi N from Cody on SR-120, TL (NW) on SR-296, TR (E) on Beartooth Hwy/US-212, go ~20 mi. Along lake, boat launch. See safety note about SR-296 in the Dead Indian CG listing. The best access to this CG is US-212 E from MT, COOKE CITY or W from MT, RED LODGE. Fox Creek CG (NF). 34 sites w/ 30/50A E. Tables, fire rings. W, toilets, trash service. $20, S/A Pass 1/2. 16 day limit. Open wkend before Mem Day-Sep 20. ~16 mi N from Cody on SR-120, TL (NW) on SR-296, TL (W) on Beartooth Hwy/US-212, go ~7 mi. Unpaved CG rd, gravel site pads. No Verizon. CG is next to a creek, sites next to it can hear it. 13 mi from NE entrance to Yellowstone NP. See safety note about SR-296 in the Dead Indian CG listing.
