Assay Rd BD (State Trust Land). Stone fire rings. Free. 14-day limit, permit required (see Arizona NOTE 4 below). From jct SR-89 & SR-71, go 5.2 mi S on SR-89 to gate & cattle guard on E at 34.088 -112.82644, between MM 262 & 263 (1.2 mi S of North Ranch SKP Park entrance). Unsigned, some maps show as Burnt Sage Rd. Use SR-89 shoulders to turn into & out of gate. Modest room to pull off hwy at gate. Close gate behind you. A few spots could be parked on in 1st 0.2 mi, then a short deep wash requires 4WD. Turnaround w/out backing may be difficult. Rd continues to some nice sites if you can get to them, but stay 1/4 mi from 2 W tanks. Rds not good in wet weather. Views of surrounding mtns & desert vegetation. Good cell signal. Stanton Rd BD. No facilities. Free. 14-day limit. From jct SR-89 & SR-71, go ~2 mi N on SR-89 to Stanton Rd, just before MM 270. TR on Stanton Rd (good wide graded). Deep culverts reported making camping areas inaccessible, Jun 24. Sometimes they get filled in, REPORT NEEDED. Go 0.6 mi, on R, lg camping area (BLM) w/ rock fire rings. Ghost Town Rd BD. Stone firerings. Free. 14-day limit. From jct SR-89 & SR-71, go 0.2 mi SW on SR-71 to Ghost Town Rd on R (6.2 mi E of US-93), MM 109.5, just after RR tracks. TR, go 1.9 mi (1st mi paved, then good gravel), TR at Cemetery sign on good graded dirt rd (N34 11.285 W112 51.5), go 0.2 mi to 1st turnoff to R, TR then bear L or R to lg areas OK for lg RVs. 1st 0.1 mi in is BLM, then State Trust Land (permit required, see AZ Note 3). Areas further down main dirt rd have many primitive camping areas in a maze of rds but require high clearance 4WD. Lush desert vegetation. 2 cemeteries, one quite old. Rds not good in wet weather.
