TO INUVIK, NT: PH-5/Dempster Hwy (becomes PH-8 in NT). ~25 mi E of Dawson City on PH-2/Klondike Hwy, go N on PH-5. CGs, & many pullouts for O/N, mostly between Dawson City & NT line (after you cross into NT there are few pullouts, only the territorial CGs). Yukon Govt CGs $12. NT Govt CGs $22.50 BD, $28 E. CGs are mostly in low spots w/ bad mosquitoes. Many pullouts are inactive level gravel pits w/ fewer mosquitoes, vary in size & scenery. Rd paved ~2 mi, then very dusty gravel (mixed w/ calcium chloride, wash vehicles immed after trip!). Travel guide: . Cheapest gas Jun 08 at Co-Op, Fort McPherson NT. TO AK, BOUNDARY: PH-9/Top of the World Hwy, W to AK border (some sections of pavement, mostly good gravel). Numerous pullouts/pkg areas for O/N. Best to check rd conditions 1st, & carry a full-size spare tire (or 2). The rd is high, & the scenery is great. No fuel or services the entire 65 miles. KM 0, short free ferry, part of hwy across Yukon Riv, normally 15 min max wait. Not an O/N location.
KM 0.3, N side of hwy, Yukon River CG (Yukon Govt). BD sites. No W. Toilets. Fee, other info: see YT Yukon Govt CGs Note below. On W bank of Riv across from Dawson City. Plenty of lg sites.
