SR-138 just N of Diamond Lake Resort/gas sta (43.1854 -122.13067), go 1/4 mi W to jct w/ FR-4795/Diamond Lake Loop Rd (43.18424 -122.1351), TR (N), go 1/2 mi to 43.19125 -122.137, & for next 1/2 mi on R is an old development of paved rds that connect via a perimeter loop rd. Clearly shown by satellite imagery. No established pullouts/sites seen but could make some. Much of area along the rds is open, level, though w/ grass & weeds. Firewood cutters & mosquitoes abound. No prohibitive signs. SR-138, 0.8 mi E of jct w/ Crater Lake N entrance rd, at sign for N Crater Trailhead, go 0.4 mi N on gravel rd which loops thru pkg lot. BD, open meadow in Umpqua NF, N of Crater Lake. Rock firerings. Free. 14-day limit. Directions 1) From jct SR-138 & SR-230, go ~10 mi N on SR-138. Just after it turns W, TR (N) on FR-2610/Bird’s Point Rd (paved), signed to Lemolo Lake Rec Area. Go 3.0 mi to paved FR-2614 (drops on ~7% grade before jct w/ FR-2614 – slow down & look for jct at bottom of hill. If you miss that turn, your only choice is #2). TR (E), go 2.6 mi to jct FR-2612 & FR-2614, TR (E) on paved FR-2612, go ~0.3 mi, swing wide to L & make sharp R (S) on narrow gravel unmarked rd for 150′, room for 2 or 3 RVs, scout first – no lg-rig turnaround if site is occupied. 43.3123 -122.1489. If you miss turn from FR-2612, there is a wide turnaround 1.5 mi further E at jct w/ FR-060 (also easier to turn into BD area coming WB).
2) From SR-138 as in #1, go 5.2 mi N on FR-2610, cross dam, TR (E) on FR-2612 (N Umpqua Rd), go ~2.3 mi to jct w/ FR-2614, then follow #1. Note! – FR-2610 NB drops on ~10% grade for ~500′ to the dam. It is 1-lane across dam. At T after crossing dam & turning on FR-2612 there is a sharp uphill turn, difficult for lg rig.
3) From jct SR-138 & SR-230, go ~9 mi N then W on SR-138. Between MM 73 & 74, TR (N) on FR-060 (gravel), go ~4.5 mi to FR-2612, TL, go ~1.5 mi, TL into BD area. More BD sites further W (now a dirt rd): at W end of meadow, 300′ down rd, on S side in trees is site w/ firepit for a sm RV. Continue W on narrow rd thru trees for several more sm-med RV sites w/ firepits, along N Umpqua Riv. Good solar/satellite, Alltel & Verizon xlnt. Nearby are BD sites along entrance rd to Inlet CG. Go 3.0 mi to paved FR-2614 (drops on ~7% grade before jct w/ FR-2614 – slow down & look for jct at bottom of hill), TR (E), go 2.3 mi to sign: East Lemolo CG (don’t TL), instead TR (S) on FR-430 red pumice/dirt rd, go 0.1 mi, to L is lg sandy (firm) snowmobile area w/ sun & shady spots for med RVs, & to R is shady area for 1 or 2 sm RVs, go another 0.1 mi, on L is lg turnaround loop/campsite, sun & shade areas, room for 2 or 3 lg rigs. Rd splits into 2 camp areas. 1) keep to R & go ~100′, driving around fallen trees. Dense trees. Table, firepit, room for 1-2 sm RVs. 2) L on rd paralleling SR-138 for ~200′. Trees/some sun.
