BYPASS ROUTE (not an O/N listing). This route is interstate-quality high speed driving almost all the way & completely bypasses the I-10 hazards & congestion thru El Paso. Use the following route going W to E: From I-10 x162 in NM (S of Las Cruces, 1 mi N of NM/TX state line) go 8.2 mi E on NM SR-404 (O’Hara Rd, very easy grades, wide shoulders, thru Anthony Gap) to roundabout. Go S on NM SR-213 (War Rd), go 2.6 mi to NM/TX state line. War Rd becomes TX FM-3255 (Martin Luther King Blvd). Continue S another 5.4 mi to US-54. Continue straight, S, on US-54 for 2 mi, take exit ramp to TX SR-Loop 375. TL (E) at traffic light onto Loop 375, go 23 mi to I-10 x34. Get on I-10 & continue E. Going E to W, reverse the directions. NOTE: Although TX SR-375 does connect with I-10 W of El Paso, that part of it has 8% grades. Bob & Viva Lee Ed #7568 Jan 16.
