Bosque Redondo Lake Park. 8-12 level hard-packed gravel BD sites & room for field pkg. Vault toilets, tables, grills, trash cans. Free. No time limited posted. ~2 mi E of downtown (~1 mi E of Billy The Kid Museum) on US-60, turn S on Real Wind Dr (at sign to Park). Go ~2 mi, continue straight at another sign to Park, entrance is very shortly on R. At lake’s edge in Park, rd splits L & R. To L are several nice lakeside sites (also 1 or 2 very low hanging tree limbs – check ahead). To R are prime spots across the lake, w/ vault toilet, tables, small shelters, trash barrels. To reach them, partially circle the lake & when in thick grove of lg trees, the rd will make a blind, sharp L turn onto a causeway to access far side of lake. Check ahead the curve onto causeway – low branches. After crossing causeway, keep L. Far side of lake: N 34 25.910 W 104 12.766. OR, another way to far side of lake, continue 0.3 mi past the first turnoff from Real Wind Dr, take 2nd right instead (no low branches or sharp turns), bear R directly to far side of the lake. Park is open all yr, but only near main CG. Restrooms near main CG, D open, W hydrants in main CG all on in Jan. Entire E side area closed Nov-Apr.
