Lower Gray Canyon (“Swasey’s Beach”) CG (BLM). 12 level riverfront sites w/ tables, fire rings. Vault toilets. $15, S/A Pass 1/2. 3 sites are noted as group sites, signed $3/person. 10 day limit. EB I-70 x160, go E on US-6 (I-70Bus), go 3 blks E of Visitor Ctr, turn N on Hastings Rd (~1 blk E of Comfort Inn). (WB I-70 x164, go W, then N on Hastings.) Go 9.5 mi (paved, follows riv) to end of pavement past BLM boat launch, continue to CG. 39.11626 -110.11173. Do not follow GPS if it tells you to turn off of Hastings Rd. A few sites unshaded. Verizon at boat ramp, none in CG. Max ~30′ rig size but some OK for ~36′. Stunning canyon setting along Green Riv. Swim beach, tranquil. Fairly empty during off-season. PHOTO. Lower Gray Canyon BD areas (BLM). Follow directions to Lower Gray Canyon CG, continue 0.3 mi, 39.120179 -110.113571, 1 site for sm/med RV. No trailers, must climb embankment to site. Firering. Good solar. AT&T & Verizon OK w/ boost. 3 other sites just below that at riv level w/ firerings, sm vehicle only, rd down washed out at the beginning. Also, 0.4 mi past CG, 39.123021 -110.113974, 1 area for 2 or 3 lg RVs. Good solar. Elev 4300′. No lg-rig turnaround except at site, even when occupied. Cattle guard at 0.5 mi. Just beyond cattle guard rd is cut into side of cliff, very narrow, no room to pass, not for lg rigs. Beyond that, rd opens up again & there are places for sm-med rigs to turn around. Sign at cattle guard says camping only at designated dispersed sites beyond that point. There are 8 of these spread out in the next 8 mi to the end of the rd. There is a Nefertiti launch site for canoeing & rafting along this rd, could get busy wkends & holidays. Mark & Sue Bryer #86611 stayed May 14.
