Many mi of free beach starting in town and following SR-82 to E. N29 46.186 W93 27.561. Also similar beach area to W of town but it is harder to access. Portajohns, trash service. Free. Signs restrict access to some parts of beach. Beach is driveable with extreme caution – there are many washed out areas, and the sand in the higher area where you would want to park is often soft/wet. While there I saw a local resident pull several vehicles out of the sand with his tractor, at $100 each. Several sts in town & a few side rds E of town lead to beach access. Great sound of surf & intriguing views at night of off-shore drilling rigs. Great variety of shells for beach combing. ATT & Verizon cell.
