Navajo NM (NPS). 2 CGs. No W during winter. Spigot at visitor ctr but need ~40′ hose to reach. Both free, no NPS entrance fee. 7-day limit. From jct US-160 & SR-564 W of Kayenta, go 9 mi N on SR-564. No tight turns. Visitor ctr has 3 xlnt movies. Long free guided hikes to see ~1200 AD ruins, or can be seen from walk-to overlook at Ctr. 1) Sunset View CG. 31 sites, tables, flush toilets, trash cans. W (not for RV fill per website) at outside wash sinks between restrooms. Paved rds & sites. Closed in winter. Sign says 27′ limit, up to 35′ possible some sites if not busy & ranger allows. Mustang Valley CG. ~4 dirt BD sites w/ covered tables, fire pits. $20. Owner (Dorothy Bigman 928-209-5106) collects daily, sometimes after dark. No stay limit. From Kayenta go N on US-163 into UT. At 0.4 mi past state line, TR (E) on well-signed Monument Valley Rd/IR-42, go 1.5 mi. N36.99817 W110.15664. Warning: people other than the owners may try to collect fee, get receipt & license plate of whomever collects. Reported CLOSED Jun 22, REPORT NEEDED as to if permanent or reopened. 3.5 mi further E is Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, $20 entry fee. Pay fees at booth, follow paved rd to Visitor Ctr. See valley overlooking The Mittens & other spectacular geological formations. 17-mile “Valley Dr” loop rd (rough but passenger cars can do, or take guided tour or horseback ride). Hiking trails.
