BYPASS ROUTE (not an O/N listing). The following is a very relaxing and scenic bypass for those traveling on US-93, thereby avoiding all the stress & discomfort from traveling the heavily used fwy system through Las Vegas. This route goes thru Lake Mead Rec Area on 2-lane good surface rds. S/A Pass covers day use fees. From N to S, exit I-15/US-93 N of Las Vegas at x50 & go 4.7 mi S on N Lamb Blvd. TL on Lake Mead Blvd, go 13.7 mi E & SE to a T w/ North Shore Rd. TR on North Shore Rd following signs to Hoover Dam, go 3.2 mi to a stop sign. TL on Lake Shore Dr following signs to Hoover Dam, go 11.2 mi to a stop sign at US-93. TL on US-93 following signs to Hoover Dam & you are SB toward Kingman AZ. From S to N, go 4.2 mi on US-93 from NV side of Hoover Dam. TR on Lake Shore Rd, signed Visitor Center & Lake Mead Beaches, go 11.2 mi, TR on North Shore Rd, go 3.2 mi, TL on Lake Mead Blvd, signed North Las Vegas. Go 13.7 mi, TR on N Lamb Blvd, go 4.7 mi & enter onto I-15/US-93 NB. Caution: The rds on this bypass route are shown as numbered hwys on maps, but often only the names are used onsite. Pullouts & pkg areas, US-93 from I-15 NE of town, N to Pahranagat Lake just S of Alamo. MMs start in Clark Co (CL) & start over at Lincoln Co (LN) line (see NV NOTE 5: MILE MARKERS). ~MM CL52, right at I-15 x64 & US-93, NE quad, 36.38177 -114.89378, 45×900′ paved shoulder, across hwy from Love’s. Traffic noise.

LN7, E side, 36.96177 -114.97514, really long super wide shoulder. Close to hwy but plenty of room to park. Room for dozens of rigs.

Main Street Station RV Park. 105 sites, all 30 or 50A EWS, pullthrus & back-ins. Restrooms, showers, laundry. 30A $21, 50A $24. +$1 for pets. No stay limit. S from Salt Lake City, I-15 x42 to I-515 S. Exit R, go L at split, stay in R lane around loop, stay R in exit only lane to x75B (Casino Center Blvd). Or, N from Los Angeles I-15 x42B to I-515 S, stay R to exit only lane to exit 75B. Or, S on US-93 or US-95 (from Reno), follow signs to I-515 S, pass I-15 then move to R to x75B (do not take x76 which is to I-15). Best to avoid all the above at “rush hour”. From exit 75B: Follow ramp to Stewart St (stop light) staying in R hand lane. TR (W), stay in R lane to Main St (casino directly ahead, T intersection, may need L lane to turn wide). TR (N) on Main. After passing under I-515 (1 blk), TR at 1st driveway. Miss this exit, go to Eastern (next exit), make u-turn to N on I-515. Stay in R exit-only lane, then follow directions below. Or, going N on I-515 from Phoenix, take x75 (Las Vegas Blvd), TR at light at bottom of ramp. Go when no traffic & immed move to L turn lane at Bonanza (1/2 blk). TL (W), go 4 blks, TL (S) on Main St. Take 1st driveway on L into RV Park. Notice asphalt at entrance – many scrape marks from RVs entering driveway. Park out of traffic, walk 2 blks S to Main Street Hotel registration desk to check in. They will assign site at that time, not before – possible to choose an empty site to request. Cash, credit, debit cards accepted. Security in Park, but keep everything locked up. Wifi from casino ($$). Good Verizon. Centrally located. Over fee criteria, but one of the best deals in Las Vegas. Road Runner RV Park. 200 sites w/ 30 & 50A EWS, pullthrus & back-ins. Restrooms, showers, laundry. $22/nite up to 3 nites, then $26/nite or switch to wkly or monthly +E rates. Cash only. NB on I-515, take x68 Flamingo Rd. Go E on Flamingo Rd to Boulder Hwy, then N on Boulder Hwy to 4711 Boulder Hwy. SB on I-515, take x70, go S on Boulder Hwy, past entrance & U-turn at median cut. 36.119N 115.071W. Park has many permanent residents but doesn’t look like it. Pool & hot tub. Free wifi but only in/near office. 702-456-4711. Excellent Verizon. Very long gravel area parallel to hwy. No facilities. Free. W side of town, I-215 x26, go 2.1 mi W on Red Rock Canyon Rd/SR-159, S side. 36 9.0141 -115 22.2542. Cross ditch to it from hwy, a little steep, use care. Lots of room but heavily used. Arrive before dark to get a better spot. Very noisy. Bike/walk/hike trail along the rim. Red Rock CG, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (BLM). 71 sites (w/ tent pads) (incl 14 walk-in sites) & a special circle w/ 5 sites for lg RVs. W spigots but “No RV tank filling”. Vault toilets. $20, S/A Pass 1/2. Reservable on BLM website. 14-day limit w/in 28. Open Labor Day-Mem Day. W of town off SR-159. 3.3 mi W of jct w/ CR-215 (outer beltway), TL (S) on Moenkopi Rd, at Red Rock CG sign (2 mi E of visitor ctr). 36.12925 -115.38435. Arrive early in the day, esp in spring & fall. ~1/2 of sites shaded. Generators 6a-10p. Firewood for sale by hosts. Hiking on miles of old dirt roads closed to vehicles. Verizon 1 bar. Red Rock Canyon Loop Rd is N off SR-159, 2.8 mi W of CG entrance, $17/vehicle for 13-mi 1-way scenic drive (reservation required, some free days, & free w/ S/A Pass). Designated BD areas, Lake Mead NRA (NPS). Camping free + $25/7 day or $45/yr vehicle entrance fee (S/A Pass free). From I-15/US-93 x45, go ~16 mi E on Lake Mead Blvd/SR-147 into Lake Mead NRA, TL on Northshore Rd (just after entrance sta). 1) Government Point. 15-day limit. From turn onto Northshore Rd, go 2.5 mi (MM 5.5, 36.14752 -114.84875) to paved rd on R (S) signed to Govt Wash Launch Ramp (closed). Go 1.2 mi S to launch ramp pkg area. TR & cross pkg area to opening in fence next to dumpster. Go thru it & follow gravel rd to Govt Point, ~0.25 mi. 3 forks in rd, all OK for camping & have turnarounds at end (if no one is parked in them). Some areas difficult to access, check ahead w/ sm vehicle. Restrooms w/ flush toilets & wash basin (non-potable W) in launch ramp pkg area. Good Verizon. Many coyotes – watch sm children & pets. 2) “8.0 Mile Rd”. 7-day limit. From turn onto Northshore Rd, go 5 mi (MM 8, N36.157 W114.808) to graded, washboarded dirt/gravel rd on R, signed “8.0 Mile Rd”. Go S ~2 mi to wide (~200′) graded area. 3) Boxcar Cove & Crawdad Cove. 15-day limit. From turn onto Northshore Rd, go 5.9 mi (MM 8.9, 36.15686 -114.79358) to graded, washboarded, rutted dirt/gravel rd on R (drive w/ sm vehicle 1st to see if lg rig fits). Go S ~0.6 mi, bear L at “Y” to continue ~2 mi to Boxcar Cove (pit toilet), or R at “Y” ~2 mi to Crawdad Cove. Sarah Meyer #126049 stayed Feb 16. 4) Other: Areas are rock & hardpack sand/gravel. Informal boat launch spots, great views of bay & rock formations. Free D & potable W at nearby Las Vegas Bay CG. Vehicle camping permitted only in designated areas. Upper Gypsum Wash Rd is day use (boat, shore fishing, etc) only, signed closed to camping. Saddle Cove Rd is entirely closed. Callville Bay CG, Lake Mead NRA (NPS). 107 BD sites & an undeveloped loop. Tables, steel firerings. Flush toilets, dumpsters. D & flush W, plus separate potable W (threaded spigot), both free to anyone. $20 (S/A Pass 1/2) + $25/7 day or $45/yr vehicle entrance fee (S/A Pass free). 20 sites reserveable, . 30-day limit. Open all yr. From I-15/US-93 x45, go ~16 mi E on Lake Mead Blvd/SR-147 into Lake Mead NRA, TL on Northshore Rd (just after entrance sta), go 8 mi (MP 11, 36.17767 -114.76656). TR on paved rd to CG, winding, 6.5% grade for 1-2 mi, short 7% grade before CG, 3.5 mi total. TR at intersection where marina is on L, short distance to CG entrance. D is just across from entrance, 36.14085 -114.72579. Most sites back-in & short, a few OK for up to 35′. Many trees (some palms) around sites, but all are short enough not to interfere w/ solar/sat.
