Diaz Lake CG (Inyo County). ~200 BD sites, any size rig. Ones along paved area are sites lined off w/ lg logs. Last half of CG along dirt rd is open camping area. Metal firerings w/ grills (be careful coming in at night, as they are black & only 6″ high), tables, flush & pit toilets, sinks, dumpster, central potable W, no D or shower. “Movie Flats” (BLM). BD, no facilities. Free. Go W from town on Whitney Portal Rd ~2.5 mi. TR on Movie Rd. “Movie Flats” for the next 1.25 mi has a maze of rds that go off both directions. Many side areas to park, some w/ stone campfire rings. Explore w/ smaller vehicle 1st. Many dirt rds are irregular, towing a car might not work. Can fill w/ campers, & expect visitors as this area gets many old-Western movie fans. Stunningly scenic rock formations. No cell service. Art & Connie Sauerstrom #87272 Sep 13. Tuttle Creek CG (BLM). 85 sites, some on creek. Tables, fire pits, vault toilets, small shade trees. D & W ($5, even if paying to camp), trash bins. $8, S/A Pass 1/2. 14-day limit. Also LTVA, see CA NOTE 9 below. Open all yr. From US-395, go 3 mi W on Whitney Portal Rd, TL & go 1.5 mi on Horseshoe Meadow Rd, TR on narrow paved rd to CG. N36 33.916 W118 7.595. Interior rds & sites are dirt & uphill (beware of unmarked speed bumps). ~1/2 of sites ~35′ max, others larger. Somewhat unlevel. Verizon & ATT vary greatly by site. Great mtn views.
