Ashpan Sno-Park (NF). 2 lg paved pkg areas. Vault toilets. Trash cans. Fee & other details see CA Note 8) SNO-PARKS below. From jct SR-44 & SR-89, go N ~3.2 mi on SR-44/89, TL (W) at snowmobile sign, immed R, FS sign “Snowmobile Park – Ashpan” at entrance. 40.591 -121.542. “Permit Required” sign on rd shows for campfires, grills, campstoves (see CA NOTE 7: Campfire Permits, below) – does not pertain to other use. Lg trees all around but many level, sat-OK spots, 4-5 hrs solar. A few beautiful ~100′ tall Ponderosas. Partial view of Mt. Lassen to S. Lg snowmobiler “warming hut” w/ stools, wood stove. Manzanita CG (Lassen Volcanic NP). Designated BD sites, W faucets. Concrete tables. Restrooms. Trash bins. $26, S/A Pass 1/2. 14-day limit. No W after mid-Oct until CG is shut down for winter, $15, S/A Pass 1/2. Go 1 mi SE of SR-44 on SR-89, past NW entrance to NP, TR at sign to CG (Manzanita Lake Rd), go ~1 mi. 40.53038 -121.56197. Can fill summer wkends. 4 loops, Loop D tent-only. Mostly sm-med back-ins. A few pullthrus but some are tight around trees. Heavily shaded, poor solar/sat. Next to Manzanita Lake Camper Store (end May-mid Oct), has pay phone, showers ($1 per 3 min), laundromat ($2.50/$2 dry), sm hot deli, gasoline, 530-335-7557. Beautiful trail around lake.
