BD along Snake Riv in W central ID & E central OR. Potable W at info board near Copperfield Park, 45 3.1N 116 48.676W. D & rinse W free at Copperfield Park. To get to area, go E from Richland, OR on SR-86, or W from Cambridge, ID on SR-71. OK for lg RVs. Coming from Cambridge you’ll be on inside, rather than cliffside w/ no shoulders & few guard rails. Good fishing, catfish, crappie, bass. Sm stores in area. Also developed CGs, all over fee criteria. GD mail good at Oxbow OR 97840. 1) In ID & OR, along SR-71 on E shore of Brownlee Reservoir, & down the W bank of Snake Riv to Oxbow Dam on SR-71.
2) In OR, along Homestead Rd (CR-1039, well maint gravel) on W bank of Snake Riv from Oxbow (Copperfield) to ~5 mi past Homestead (abandoned town) & Copper Creek Trailhead/CG (vault toilets, free, 14-day limit, 45 3.1N 116 48.676W). Lg boat ramp area 0.7 mi in & 2 lg dumpsters across the rd. ~1 mi in is a single lane tunnel that any RV can pass thru. Warning sign ~5 mi in not recommending for vehicles over 20′ total, but Copper Creek is used by horse trailers. Ample turnaround loop at Copper Creek. Many free BD sites along this rd, also just after the tunnel is Westfall Campsite, just before MM 2 is Bob Creek Campsite, ~3 mi in is Airstrip Campsite. Each of these BLM BD spots have 4-6 gravel sites, tables, fire rings, vault toilets. Most are shaded. Variable sizes, leveling can be a challenge. Bob Creek is on riv side, others are across the rd.
3) In ID, along 23-mi paved FR-454 on E bank of Snake Riv from Oxbow dam, N down to Hells Canyon Dam. Many sites ID Power Co sites, some w/ portajohns, no other facilities, mostly along shore of reservoir & riv. 14-day limit at each site (14 days out), can move a mi or 2 & start another 14-day stay. Best spot MM 20.2, lg concrete area & grassy, along riv. Many lg rigs. Don’t go past MM 20.2 w/ RV, no turnaround. Dam at MM 22.1, visitor ctr at MM 23.
