Rds to W off US-101 steep (some 10% grades up and down), hairpin curves, slow drive, sm-med rigs only. ~25 mi N of Garberville, US-101 x663 (Honeydew), go W, then S, 22 mi on Bull Creek/Mattole Rd (paved), to Honeydew. Turn W toward Petrolia, go 13.5 mi (paved). Before Petrolia & before crossing bridge over riv, turn W on Lighthouse Rd, go 5 mi, keeping R to end of rd & pkg area. Or, from Ferndale, US-101 x691 or x692, go S on SR-211 thru Ferndale, TR on Ocean then L on Wildcat, becomes Petrolia Rd, go 30 mi S to Petrolia. Go 3/4 mi past Petrolia, cross the riv, go W on Lighthouse Rd 5 mi to pkg area. CG has packed sand rds, some larger sites. At Mattole Beach where Mattole Riv empties into Pacific, on N CA’s Lost Coast. N of Puna Gorda lighthouse, miles of sand beach to walk, sea lions. Driftwood collecting. Verizon OK.
