Or, 2.2 mi N of Lordsburg on US-70, TR on SR-90, go 20 mi to rd on L just before concrete bridge & Walking X Ranch Rd, which you can see uphill. Inconspicuous entrance leads to several forest rds & open areas, lots of room. Stay in 1st 2 open areas unless you have 4WD. Be mindful of soft sand. Very popular ATV spot on wkends. Continental Divide Trailhead & 4-wheeler staging area (NF). No facilities. Free. 14 day limit. SR-90 MM 21.6, N side, ~1/2-way between Lordsburg & Silver City. Lg clearing just off rd, 3 very short spurs within 1500′, more open space around loop. Simple level BD spots, good gravel rd, med rigs can back into spur rds, lg rigs can stay near rd, main gravel rd ends in very lg loop so backing not necessary. Debby Beatty #135578 stayed May 21.


CGs (NF) between Silver City & Gila Cliff Dwelling NM, SR-35 & 15. S/A Pass 1/2 off those w/ fees shown. 15-day limit. No camping in NM. & See other listing for BD & CGs N of Silver City on SR-15 S of jct w/ SR-35, but this stretch of rd is not for vehicles over ~24′ or towing (tight switchbacks, steep grades). Larger rigs go ~7 mi E from town on US-180 to Santa Clara, TL (NE) on SR-152, go ~14 mi to TL (NW) on SR-35 (paved, curves). 1) go 20 mi on SR-35 to Sapillo CG, W side of hwy (N33 0.94 W108 6.94). Fire rings. Pit toilets. Free. CG is for groups, individuals or dispersed camping. CG is lg, relatively level, undeveloped, many areas OK for lg rigs. Gravel access rds in good shape. 2) go 2.5 mi further to Upper End CG (N33 1.68 W108 9.04). 12 sites. W, pit toilets. $10. Gravel rds & aprons. Many sites OK for 30’+ RV. Lg pines but some spots OK for solar. 3) go 3/4 mi further to Mesa CG (N33 2.17 W108 9.3, MM 23.2). 24 well-spaced sites, 12 w/ EW. W, flush toilets. $10, $15 w/ E. Several pullthrus. Many sites OK for any size RV. Paved rd & site aprons. Limited shade. On mesa overlooking Lake Roberts. Some sites have limited view of lake. Boat ramp between Upper End & Mesa CGs. 2-mi hiking trail across hwy. 4) continue ~4 mi to TR (N) on SR-15 (paved, narrow, winding). Go 12.4 mi to Grapevine CG (MM 37.7, N33 10.73 W108 12.29) or 0.3 mi further to Forks CG (MM 38.1). Grapevine has tables. Servis Corral, lg dirt pkg area at trailhead (NF). No facilities. Free. 14 day limit. Go ~6.5 mi E from town on US-180 (~1/2 mi W of SR-152 in Santa Clara), TL (N), enter Ft. Bayard Military Res, follow NF signs to R on Camino Foresta, pass medical ctr, in 1.5 mi end up on good gravel FR-536. Go ~1.6 mi, just past Crumbley Ranch Rd, to sharp L on good gravel rd. Go about 0.8 mi to Corral, or stop sooner at 2 sm spots w/ trees. Flat, no shade. Very quiet, good phone service. Hiking trail. Debby Beatty #135578 stayed May 19.


BD sites, McKnight Rd (NF). No facilities. Free. 14-day limit. Go ~7 mi E from town on US-180 to Santa Clara, TL (NE) on SR-152, go ~14 mi to TL (NW) on SR-35 (paved, curves). ~MM 12.5, TR (E) on McKnight Rd/FR-152. Gravel rd, single lane, a few sharp curves, in good shape after 1st 1/2-mi. BD sites start at NF boundary. Very limited turnaround next several miles, due to rd following narrow ridge. Trailers make it but 2 would have a hard time passing in some stretches. A few widely scattered lg sites. Vegetation grass/juniper mix. Extensive views, quiet. From pavement (SR-35): 0.4 mi, NF boundary, pkg for 1-2 sm rigs on R.
0.5 mi, flat spot on R, 2-3 sm rigs.
2.3, great spot on R few hundred feet from main rd, lg enough for several rigs. Elev 6800′.
2.9, great lg spot, elev 6900′. Spur rds beyond main clearing may offer more sites.
4.3, spur road on R immed splits. Good spots both directions.

BD sites, SR-15 N to jct w/ SR-35 (NF), ~26 mi. No facilities. Free. 14-day limit. Sm rigs up to 24′ only. Upper areas are grass/juniper vegetation with lg vistas, lower half has pine stands along creeks. ~12.5 mi from Silver City, Cherry Creek CG. Sm, primitive, free, for sm RVs.
~13 mi, McMillan CG. Sm, primitive, free, for tent camping.
~14, trailhead for 3 nice hiking trails, one going to Signal Peak Lookout (still manned in summer).
14.4, FR-152 lg gravel staging area, room for several rigs. 2-3 more private spots for single rigs on both sides of 152 just past staging area. Easy walk to trailhead at MM 14.
15, FR-149 3-4 good sites on R at jct, nestled into pine trees.
15.9, unmarked trailhead on L (W), not level but room to park. Better pkg just before on R. Trail comes up from marked trailhead near MM 14.
18.3, FR-255D Pine Flats. Lg shady area in tall pine trees. On R (E) just past a bigger, newer dirt rd.
18.6, FR-3416 on L (W). Steep. Bicycle staging area at crest of hill. 2-3 sm rigs.
19.6 (FR-4257P), 19.8, 20.8, 21.1, Misc sm pullouts, some rough and/or steep, evaluate based on your own rig.
21.6, FR-4322B, very lg flat gravel turnout, good vista.
~22, FR-549 on L (W). Short, reasonable dirt rd into Wild Horse Mesa.
23-24, 2 rough tracks on W side, deteriorating, walk before driving.

Bill Evans Wildlife Area (NM Dept of Game & Fish), BD areas. Pit toilet. Free. 14-day limit. Open all yr. 24.5 mi NW of town on US-180, MM 87.5 (3.7 mi S of sm community of Cliff), TL (S) at Bill Evans Lake Rd sign, go 4 mi on paved rd along Gila Riv to lake. N32 51.9264 W108 34.7576. 2 pullouts along riv on way in. Lg level unshaded pkg area straight in, any size rig. Other areas along lake, most unlevel, good gravel rd. 4700′ elev.
