Stone firerings. MVUM shows not in NF. Continue another 0.3 mi on FR-287, TR at 42.96008 -121.09864 on OK gravel rd. Several sites on R for 0.2 mi. 1 table & fire ring. Just W of PO on SR-31, go 13 mi S on East Bay Rd/CR-4-12/FR-28 (wide paved), TR (W) on FR-014 (42.95115 -121.05027, steep, 1-lane paved w/ occasional wide spots), go 1.4 mi to CG. Paved rds & pads. Pullouts (NF), Silver Lake Rd/CR-4-10/CR-676. No facilities. Free. Several in the 52 mi between SR-31 & US-97. Easy access off rd, drive between trees. A good scenic shortcut from US-20 & US-395 near Burns to the Crater Lake area, is to go 37.4 mi S of US-20 (at Riley) on US-395, go W on Christmas Valley Rd, at Christmas Valley follow signs to Silver Lake, then ~2 mi NW of town on SR-31, take Silver Lake Rd W to US-97 at ~MM 227.5 (~20 mi N of Chiloquin, ~25 mi S of Chemult). All paved 2-lane rds. Silver Lake Rd is mostly straight w/ some easy curves (can do 10 mph faster than suggested on signs), & a few short grades 6% or less (easier than much of SR-31 & SR-138), & goes straight thru the middle of the Winema-Fremont NF.
