Gardner Canyon Rd BD (NF). Go N of town ~4 mi on SR-83, between MM 37 & 38, TL on Gardner Canyon Rd (31.73742 -110.66363). 1) Within 1st 0.8 mi are several free BD spots on both sides of the rd. 2) At 0.8 mi in, TR on rd to Fish Canyon & Kentucky Camp (a restored mining camp, not a CG), go ~1 mi, free NF BD site on R just before private property signs. After short private property stretch & a NF sign, several more spots on both sides of rd, 1 at 1.5 mi in from Gardner Canyon Rd, on R, 31.74331 -110.70972. Slow Verizon w/ booster. Some ATV activity. Las Cienegas Natl Conservation Area (BLM), several free BD locations. No facilities. Free. 14-day limit. Designated ATV area. See . Go N from town on SR-83, TR just after MM 39 (N31.76882 W110.68251, you will see sign for Conservation Area), go 2.9 mi to sign “Empire Ranch Headquarters”. 31.78549 -110.64189. No camping is allowed along rd up to here. Info booth & old ranch house (free tour, 20 rooms & outbldgs). Map of reserve/camping spots at camp host behind house. Walking trail near toilets. 1) Bear R at Empire Ranch sign, go 0.2 mi to T, TL, go 0.9 mi to Oak Creek Canyon Camp Area on L. 31.79036 -110.63373. Moderate-washboard rd, rough condition Mar 13. Nice spacious spots & restrooms in area w/ horse facilities. Sm spots along rd but look closely, some are soft sand. Good Verizon. Lg flat area used to be an airstrip. 3) Or, bear R at sign “Empire Ranch Headquarters,” go 0.2 mi to T, TR on Rt 900 (South Rd), go 1.2 mi, TR on dirt rd, follow it to Cieneguita Primitive Camp & Picnic Area. 31.76634 -110.62655. 4) Go E from town on SR-82 ~5 mi, at MM 36.5 take dirt rd to L (you will see sign for Conservation Area – N31.70662 W110.5926). Rd in rough condition Mar 13. Go ~2.5 mi to nice BD spot on L, & ~0.5 mi further a rd for Road Canyon Camp Area goes to the R, some BD spots near that intersection. Locals use area for firearm target practice. Note: If you keep going N on this main rd (Rt 900, South Rd) you will connect with the other part of the Area mentioned above, but this section of the rd is not RVable due to many low trees, also very rocky & several washes. From Tucson, go E to I-10 x281, go ~25 mi S on SR-83 to Sonoita, continue ~25 mi S on SR-83 to Parker Canyon Lake. From Sierra Vista, travel thru Fort Huachuca’s W gate to SR-83, turn S, go 10 mi to Parker Canyon Lake. 31.4285 -110.451. Many tent sites in separate loop.
